@momneedsvacation Well maybe if they would have fixed and upgraded the levis before Katrina their houses wouldnt of been flooded in fact we also learned in science that the levis are making Louisiana erode way and that they shouldnt of built them instead they should of made the houses on stilts to see one type it in on google images

I think everything else in the story is pretty intuitive...but whence the geyser? That's of course the huge kinetic energy deposited into the underground tow, but since you rarely see that sort of thing, your intuition isn't prepared for the fact. I think that's physics education material par excellence!

@Johner108 You might have "learned in science," but I'm not sure what. "Everyone in Louisiana" didn't stay in N.O. And the full force of the storm had nothing to do with it. The issue was that the levees broke. Yes, the people should have left when they were told to, but they still would have come back to flooded homes. Learn the facts before you go spouting off...
